ORGAN GRINDER INGMAR KRAUSE BIOGRAPHY
Having started at the tender age of four, Organ Grinder Ingmar Krause - although still a "young lad" - can already look back at over a quarter century of experience as street musician. In his early years he was repeatedly named the "Youngest Professional Organ Grinder". The largest portion of that experience is a result of over 170 so called "Organ Rallys"; Streetfestivals with a large participation of Organ Grinders from all walks of life. These Events have brought him to over 70 cities in 9 european countries and earned him over 50 certificates of participation.
His specialization are street-performances for various occassions: from old-town-square fairs and store-inaugurations to christmas-markets.
But with his participation in more then 7 church-masses (one of which was his own confirmation-mass) and more then 8 concerts as well as several parades, he won't shy away from a stage nor from talking to the media.
Anniversaries, Birthdays, Weddings, at retirement-homes, but just as well for Funerals: where ever he is being called to, his presentation will be that of a seasoned performer.
His music stands out from that of other organ grinders, as - from an early age on - he noticeably not just cranks out the tunes, but lends them his ears and his feelings as he interpretates the arranged tunes in his own way. More then that, since his mid-teens he started arranging his own music for his (and others!) instruments; so even if he currently has not the tunes you had in mind for him to play at your event - if given enough time - he can arrange and perforate your choice of songs and there are just no limits: from Mozarts "Rondo a la turka" over to Beethovens "Fur Elise" over to "Lambada" to "I'm Blue"(Eiffel65) or even "Larger then Life" by the Backstreet Boys.
While his family has quite an impressive collection of all sorts of mechanical musical instruments; since moving to Canada he now has only two Instruments at his disposal: a traditional style Berlin monkey organ (Pipes, Rolls) and a so called "salon-organ" with it's Patent originating from Leipzig (Reeds, Discs)
Both instruments are actually just recently built replicas, but this ensures their functionality and great sound!
Those who were now hoping for a live monkey will be disappointed. His foremost interest is spreading the enthusiasm about this old technology and the happy music it produces; not the continuation of the old image of monkey organ grinders from yesteryear. Not only animal rights activists approve. Of little comfort will it be, that he does bring a stuff monkey along.
So far his public appearances in Canada already include: Cafe Berlin at the Edelweiss-Club in Victoria, the causeway of the inner harbour of Victoria, Victoria's Speakers Corner, a Motorcycle-Shop in Metchosin, greeting the arriving audience of a Diwali-Show at the University of Victoria, a birthday-party in a conference-room of a Hotel in North Vancouver, the 20 year anniversary of the German Canadian Heritage Plaza across the 29th Ave. Skytrain Station in East Vancouver, a childrens christmas-party in the Deutsche Alpenclub on Victoria Drive in Vancouver, UBC Applefest ...
